Opera integrates its own streaming service Loomi into its browser

Opera Software released a new stable version of its web browser Opera, version 82.0.4227.33 to the stable channel, and with it comes the integration of Loomi, an online streaming service by Opera. Loomi is in beta currently and only available in Poland. Opera Software plans to launch Loomi in additional European regions in the "near future".

Loomi is available as a standalone web streaming service and it is also integrated into the Opera web browser. The service is designed to make the viewing experience more engaging and interactive. The website is available in English and Polish.

Loomi is not a subscription-based service, which sets it apart for the majority of streaming services available on today's Internet. Users get a selection of free movies on the platform, which they may watch right away.  At least the free selection of movies is powered by advertisement. Users need to sign-up for an account to watch these, or sign-in with an Opera account, if they have one already.

Note: Loomi may block VPN users from watching content. NordVPN servers were blocked from watching, others may be blocked as well.

Loomi supports "tailored filtering" according to Opera Software, which supports new options of finding content. Users of the platform may use the regular search, or the filtering options to find content by mood, interest, characters, cast, story and other parameters; this was the feature that beta testers of the service appreciated the most according to Opera.

Viewers may share reactions while watching the movie, and it is possible to display those reactions while watching the movie on the platform.

Loomi's selection of content is limited at this point in time, but that is to be expected since it is still in beta. When you use the advanced search option for movies, you find 944 listed. The selection includes popular movies of 2021 but also older movies.

The latest version of Opera includes the new L-icon in the sidebar in Poland. Users may click on the icon to display Loomi in the sidebar in the browser, similarly to how messengers open there as well.

Closing Words

The integration of Loomi in Opera may give the service a bit of a boost as users may notice it there and check it out. For Opera Software, it is another income stream that may help diversify revenue further.
