Indian Olympic medalists are in for a treat! Xiaomi India’s owner, Manu Kumar Jain, has announced that all of the Indian medalists at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo will be receiving a Xiaomi M1 11 Ultra.
This version is Xiaomi’s most expensive flagship to date and is also their most impressive when it comes to the device specifications. Not only are the specifications top-notch, but it also comes with a steep price. All these elements combine, pitting the M1 11 Ultra against devices such as the OnePlus 9 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Jain has also reported that Xiaomi will be giving the Indian men’s hockey team the Mi 11x rather than the M1 11 Ultra that individual medalists receive. When you view the specs of these devices, the Mi 11x is rebranded from the Redmi K40/ Poco F3. It features a Snapdragon 870 chipset, a 120Hz FHD+ OLED screen, the 48MP+8MP+5MP rear camera systems, and a 4,520mAh battery with 33W charging.
The M1 11 Ultra, on the other hand, is the first Xiaomi device with an IP68 rating. When you view specs for the M1 11 Ultra, it is also clear that it ups the ante from the M1 11x quite significantly. This device features a Snapdragon 888 chipset, a 50MP+48MP+48MP rear camera setup with a screen for selfies, 120Hz QHD+ OLED panel, and a 5,000mAh battery with 67W wired and wireless charging.
Currently, the country has seven Olympic medalists in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. It's the first time that India has managed to secure seven medals across a variety of events. And the country’s appreciation for its athletes is apparent in the latest move by Xiaomi.
