PicPick 5.1.5 update fixes a vulnerability in the screenshot software

The developers of the screenshot software PicPick have released an update that fixes a security vulnerability in the application.

I reviewed PicPick twice here on this site already and concluded that it is a professional screenshot application that is free for personal use. The last review looked at the new user interface that was launched in PicPic 5.0.

I liked it that much, that I picked it as the best free screenshot taking tool in our overview of screenshot software for Windows. The only thing that is missing from the program is video capturing functionality.

The developers release updates regularly, and the program includes a notification system that informs users about new updates. In case you have not updated yet to the latest version, it is recommended to do so right away as it addresses a security issue in the application.

Information is scarce at this point in time; the severity of the issue is not mentioned on the download page on the official site. Considering that it is a security issue that warranted an update, it is suggested to update the software.

Existing users may check the installed version by selecting File > About in the application window. The page that opens displays the current version and an option to check for updates. Commercial users will get updates automatically, free users need to download and install the latest version manually.

Just open the main download page on the official site and run the PicPick setup file once it has been downloaded. The latest version has a size of 14.9 Megabytes and is compatible with all client versions of Microsoft's Windows operating system starting with Windows XP.

Run the installer after the download completes and follow the instructions on the screen. Updating should not take longer than a couple of seconds. You can verify the new version installed correctly by opening the about page again.

Portable users need to extract the content of the downloaded archive and can start using the new version right away.
